Glofish
41As an avid fish lover, I am always looking for new fish to add to my fish tank. When I came across Glofish, I instantly had a new favorite. These colorful fish add excitement and life to your tank and you don’t have to spend a ton of money! These beautiful, hardy fish come in three striking colors for buyers to enjoy- red, green and orange.
1800glofish.com sells complete aquarium kits that make setup and maintenance a breeze. The kit comes with a 1.5-gallon tank, 3,6, or 9 Glowfish and 24 LED lights that make the fish truly shine. The black and blue LED lights in the aquarium kit really showcase the fluorescence of the glofish.
These stunning zebrafish, once bred for detecting environmental pollutants, are now the center of attention in many classrooms, offices, homes and dorm rooms. The fluorescence of glowfish comes from an extra protein gene they have. Each new glofish inherits its unique color from its parents and passes its color on to its offspring.
When I got my first 3 Glowfish, I was so excited to finally have my fish I just wanted to plop them right into their new home, but I found these Getting Started tips that were really helpful. Check them out:
• Always avoid extreme temperature variations and long travel time.
• To add fish to the new aquarium, keep the fish enclosed in the bag from the pet store and float the bag in your aquarium. This will allow the temperature of the water in the bag to come closer to that of the tank.
• Let the bag float for 30 minutes. Then open the bag and add one cup of aquarium water every 10 minutes, until the volume of water in the bag is doubled. This will help your fish adjust to the water in its new home.
• Once the fish has had enough time to become accustomed to the new water conditions, you can release it into the tank.
